Super Hydrophobic Surface and Magnetic Liquid - The Slow Mo Guys

Gav and Dan are in the GE lab using nanotechnology to show you cool liquid physics at 2500fps. The first experiment shows a superhydrophobic surface that GE has been working on. Surfaces like this can be useful in aviation and wind power to reduce ice build-up or for self-cleaning applications. The surface traps a layer of air using its nanoscopic structure, which prevents water from sticking. The second experiment also demonstrates how the nanoscale differs from the macroscale, this time with iron filings. Iron filings at the macroscale can be easily distinguished from the liquid they are in. When reduced to...

CRAZY Ideas That Actually Worked

Molten Aluminum Vs. Oobleck (Non-Newtonian Fluid)

The first Molten Aluminum video in a long time! After last weeks Oobleck video, many of you suggested for me to pour molten aluminum into Oobleck. It sounded like a fun experiment so I gave it a go! Boyle's Self-Flowing Flask Filled With Polyethylene Glycol (Self-Pouring Liquid) = Perpetual Motion?

In this video I combine Robert Boyle's self flowing flask with Polyethylene Gycol, the self pouring or self siphoning liquid in order to attempt a perpetual motion flow system. I make the internet version of Boyle's flask to attempt this then I show the neat properties of the polyethylene glycol. Then talk about how perpetual motion is actually possible with superfluids.
